Role: Graphic Designer (Intern)
Focus: Accessibility, e-learning
Tools: Adobe InDesign
The Challenge
The original guidelines focused on visual consistency but lacked accessibility standards. I expanded the guide to incorporate WCAG 2.1, accessible typography, and plain language, ensuring materials are consistent and usable in digital contexts.
Approach
I began by auditing existing materials to identify gaps in WCAG 2.1 accessibility and content clarity, I then developed a structured system integrating:
• Visual design (colour, typography)
• Content design (plain language, consistency)
• Accessibility (contrast, readability)
The Outcome
This project was especially rewarding because it allowed me to extend PHBI’s guidelines beyond brand identity to encompass usability and inclusivity. By integrating accessibility checks, inclusive writing practices, and interaction design standards, I delivered a guide that not only documents how materials should look but also how they should function for diverse learners. For me, it was a chance to strengthen my skills in UX strategy, accessibility, and content design while creating a tool that continues to support the organization beyond my internship.
